About the Editor

Martin Foskett is the founder, editor and publisher of Knelstrom.

With more than three decades of experience as a journalist, photographer and independent publisher, he has covered subjects ranging from local community issues and public affairs to national politics, transport, aviation, defence and international events.

Throughout his career, Martin’s work has focused on accurately documenting events, asking difficult questions, and providing readers with clear, well-researched information. His photography has been published and licensed by newspapers, magazines, museums, educational organisations, specialist publishers, government bodies and international organisations. At the same time, his editorial work has spanned news reporting, investigative features, long-form analysis and documentary projects.

A Career in Journalism and Photography

Martin began working as a freelance news photographer in the early 1990s, covering breaking news, politics, transport, aviation, public events and community stories across the United Kingdom.

Over the years, his photography has appeared in a wide range of publications and organisations through direct commissions and editorial licensing, reflecting a career built on factual reporting and visual storytelling.

Alongside photography, Martin has developed extensive experience researching public policy, legislation, government publications, and historical subjects, with a particular interest in presenting complex information in an accessible way to a broad audience.

Why Knelstrom Was Created

Knelstrom was founded to provide an independent publishing platform free from the commercial pressures and editorial constraints that increasingly shape modern media.

The aim is not simply to report events, but to explain them.

Many articles published by Knelstrom begin with primary source material, including legislation, parliamentary papers, official reports, consultation documents and public records. Rather than relying solely on secondary reporting, Knelstrom seeks to examine original documents wherever practical and present them with context, analysis and transparency.

Editorial Philosophy

Martin believes several core principles should guide journalism:

  • accuracy before speed;
  • evidence before assumption;
  • transparency in sourcing;
  • a clear distinction between reporting and opinion;
  • accountability through corrections where necessary;
  • Respect for readers’ ability to reach their own conclusions.

Opinion has an important place in journalism, but it should always be clearly identified as commentary and never presented as fact.

Independence

Knelstrom is published independently through Knelstrom Ltd.

Editorial decisions are made without political affiliation or external editorial control. Commercial relationships, sponsorships or promotional content, where applicable, are clearly disclosed in accordance with the publication’s editorial policies.

Beyond Journalism

In addition to writing and photography, Martin develops digital publishing tools, educational resources and creative projects that support journalists, photographers, researchers and content creators.

His work reflects a long-standing interest in combining traditional journalism with modern digital publishing, making reliable information more accessible to readers in an increasingly complex media environment.

Commitment to Readers

The same objective guides every article published under Martin’s editorship:

To provide readers with reporting and analysis that is accurate, transparent, independently produced and grounded in evidence wherever possible.

Whether covering local issues, analysing legislation or examining international developments, the goal remains the same—to help readers better understand events through careful research, responsible journalism and clear editorial standards.
