The Islamic Republic of Iran has unveiled a new ballistic missile, the Khorramshahr-4, described as a game-changer in the region.

The new missile is a liquid-fueled missile that flies at Mach 16 outside the atmosphere, making it one of the fastest missiles in the world.

The Khorramshahr-4 is a significant development for Iran, as it can carry multiple warheads and has a range of 2,000km, making it capable of reaching a wide range of targets. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani unveiled the missile in a televised speech. He said the missile was “a symbol of the Iranian nation’s power” and would help Iran protect its regional interests.

The Khorramshahr-4 is an essential step forward for Iran regarding its missile technology, as it has been developing missiles for decades. The missile also responds to the United States’ recent deployment of ballistic missile defence systems in the region.

The international community has criticised the missile, with the United States and its allies calling it a violation of the 2015 nuclear deal. It is also seen as destabilising the region, as Iran’s missile program could lead to an arms race in the Middle East.

Despite the criticism, unveiling the Khorramshahr-4 is a significant development for Iran and could be a game-changer for the region. It is a testament to Iran’s commitment to developing its missile technology and could lead to the emergence of a regional power.
