In a recent meeting, China’s foreign minister expressed to the US ambassador that the downturn in relations between the two countries is the responsibility of the US. He urged Washington to “reflect deeply” on its actions before ties could return to a healthy track.
The foreign minister cited a series of “erroneous words and deeds” by the US since a meeting between the two countries leaders in November. He believes the US has undermined the positive momentum established in Sino-US relations.
The foreign minister emphasised that the US must stop “undermining China’s sovereignty, security, and development interests,” particularly by supporting Taiwan’s independent identity.
